Successfully carrying a critical manoeuvre, Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) today moved India's advanced communication satellite GSAT-8 to a higher orbit in a planned operation that lasted 95 minutes.

The ISRO said here that the spacecraft controllers at the Master Control Facility at Hassan in Karnataka carried out the first critical orbit-raising manoeuvre of GSAT-8 at 0358 hrs (IST) this morning with the firing of the 440 Newton Liquid Apogee Motor (LAM) on board the satellite for 95 minutes
